Postdoctoral Position (f/m/d) – Cancer Metabolism & Metastasis Research

Full-time, limited to 2 years with potential extension for up to 3 years • Remuneration according to TV-L
The Klinik für Gastroenterologie, gastrointestinale Onkologie und Endokrinologie at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) to join a research group investigating cancer metabolism and metabolic plasticity during metastatic progression, with a focus on pancreatic cancer and other entities. The position is funded by the “UMG2032 – Excellence through Focus” project (supported by zukunft.niedersachsen, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, and the Volkswagen Foundation).
Your Tasks
- Conduct standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, cloning, bacterial transformation, immunohistochemistry, etc.)
- Perform cell culture experiments (experience with 3D culture systems is advantageous)
- Process human and murine tumor tissue samples (e.g., tumor tissue, plasma)
- Work with animal models of metastasis (prior experience is a prerequisite)
- Lead an independent research project within a collaborative team
- Present and communicate results at national and international scientific meetings
- Supervise students and document experiments according to GLP standards
Your Qualifications
- PhD in life sciences (Biology, Medical Biology, Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry, or related field)
- Strong background in Cancer Metabolism and/or Cancer Metastasis Research
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell biology techniques
- Licensed training for animal experiments (e.g., FELASA-B) (required)
- Basic bioinformatics and biostatistics skills (required)
- Experience with metabolomics and lipidomics sample preparation/data analysis (advantageous)
- Fluent English (written and spoken) (required)
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong communication skills
