Software Engineer (Frontend & Mobile) - (f/m/d)

VeröffentlichtVeröffentlicht: 16.7.2026

HI THERE!

Are you driven by work that genuinely matters with the long-term backing to see it through?
At Data4Life, we build digital research solutions that advance healthcare and science, backed for the long term by the Hasso Plattner Foundation. You'll tackle complex problems alongside a senior, international team, in a small and expert-dense org where your decisions shape the product from day one.
If you want your code to matter and your impact to last, this is the place.

Activities

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

  • Build accessible, performant, and well-tested frontend and mobile features following clean code principles.
  • Develop, test, and review code — and have a real voice in software design and architecture decisions.
  • Implement modules connecting to wearable sensors via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and mobile SDKs (Wear OS, smartwatches).
  • Extend our Wear OS companion app (Kotlin) and contribute to cross-platform solutions.
  • Use your UI expertise to craft digital health products and prototypes with a strong focus on user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with UX Design, Backend Engineering, QA, and Product Management.
  • Work confidently with AI tools — vibe coding, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted development are part of how we work.

Requirements

Must-haves:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Solid experience in web development with React or React Native.
  • Strong foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript including TypeScript; hands-on experience with cross-platform development (React Native, Flutter, or Capacitor JS).
  • Deep commitment to performance, semantic markup, accessibility, and security.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (C1+).
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well in a cross-functional, international team.
  • Practical fluency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, agentic coding workflows).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Android app development experience.
  • iOS development experience.
  • Experience with wearables, BLE, or Wear OS.
  • Up to date on new web APIs, frameworks, and standards (WebWorker, ServiceWorker, WebAssembly).
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Team

You will be joining our Germany-based Software Engineering team, including a QA Engineer, Frontend & Mobile Engineers and Full-Stack Software Engineers, and a Technical Writer. We work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment with short decision-making paths, close knowledge sharing, and a supportive team culture.

Application Process

1. After the initial screening, if we decide to move forward with your application, our Tech Recruiter will contact you to schedule the first interview. This interview focuses on your previous experience, motivation and includes general theoretical technical questions.

2. The next stage is the first coding challenge, which is ideally conducted on-site at on of our offices in Berlin or Potsdam. It assesses your general software engineering skills. If you successfully complete this challenge, you will move on to the second coding challenge, which is tailored to the specific role and technical domain.

3. After successfully completing both coding challenges, you will have a cultural fit interview, where you'll meet a few of your potential future colleagues.

4. If we decide to extend an offer, the final step will be to request 2–3 professional references.
