Tenure Track Assistant Professor (W2) in Technology Management

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Technology Management to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6-year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3. The professorship is endowed by the Dieter Schwarz Stiftung.

Scientific Environment

The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Management and located in Munich. The TUM School of Management is one of the leading management schools in Germany and internationally, with a research and teaching focus at the interface of management and technology.

Faculty members publish regularly in leading journals across the school’s departments:

  • Finance & Accounting
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship
  • Marketing
  • Strategy & Leadership
  • Economics & Policy
  • Operations & Technology

The school maintains close ties in interdisciplinary research with other TUM schools and industry.

Responsibilities

  • Research and teaching in Technology Management, with a focus on transformative technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, digital platform enterprises, or green technologies).
  • Acquisition of third-party funding and promotion of early-career scientists.
  • Teaching in the school’s bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, particularly in:
    • Bachelor in Management and Technology
    • Master in Management (MIM)
    • Master in Management and Innovation (MMI)
    • TUM’s Executive MBA Program
  • Courses of special interest include R&D Strategy, Technology Management, and Technology Commercialization.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated initial scientific achievements and capacity for independent research at the highest international level.
  • University degree and an outstanding doctoral degree (or equivalent scientific qualification).
  • Pedagogical aptitude and substantial research experience abroad (see TUM Faculty Recruiting FAQ for details).
