As a Technical Working Student in the Photonics Lab, you will support the team in setting up fiber-based optical circuits, performing measurements on photonic chips, and data analysis.
Activities
You will assist with the laboratory setup, perform measurements, and contribute to data analysis and documentation. This role offers hands-on experience with advanced photonic technologies and close collaboration with engineers and researchers. The position is intended for enrolled students in natural sciences or engineering, with a strong interest in experimental lab work.
Requirements
Defined Responsibilities:
- Work in a fiber-based photonics lab
- Characterize bare-die on-chip photonic components, both active and passive
- Learn and use in-house laboratory automation software, including auto-alignment and experiment routines
- Conduct measurements and document results
- Preferred: Participate in the development of lab automations
Defined Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in Physics, Photonics, or related field
- Photonics laboratory experience
- Good knowledge of Python for scientific instrumentation
- Meticulous approach to lab work
- English language skills
- Preferred: fiber-based lab experience, optical characterization equipment familiarity
Team
You will have one manager who you will report into. The team is otherwise on site and available to you if you have questions. You may work independently or collaboratively depending on the task.
