We are building retail media infrastructure that enables big retailers to plan, launch, and optimize retail media at scale. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work across the entire platform, owning critical systems that handle high-volume traffic and data processing in a fast-paced, senior-led environment.
Activities
- Own significant parts of our ad-serving and event-tracking path end-to-end, from design through production, including a share of the on-call rotation.
- Ship changes that cross the stack in one go, including Go services, dbt models, Terraform modules, and GitOps manifests.
- Keep the hot path fast and resilient by profiling, caching, and managing latency and throughput.
- Ensure data correctness and affordability through consistent event schemas, idempotent pipelines, and BigQuery spend management.
- Help shape platform architecture decisions, including multi-region rollout, storage choices, and streaming vs. batch processing.
Requirements
- 8+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years building data-intensive or latency-sensitive systems in production.
- Strong, current experience with Go in production, or deep experience in another systems language (Java, Rust, C++) with a willingness to write Go.
- Solid SQL and data modeling skills, with hands-on experience in columnar warehouses like BigQuery and event streaming systems.
- Real performance instincts, including experience tuning Postgres, Redis, connection pools, and gRPC under load.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitOps.
Team
We are a small, senior team of engineers and retail experts who ship fast and own what we build. Since joining ZetaDisplay Group, we benefit from the backing of a larger group while maintaining our lean, pragmatic way of working.
Application Process
We aim to make the hiring process respectful of your time, transparent, and meaningful. Here's what you can expect:
-
CV Screening
We take a first look at your experience - focusing on relevant skills, tools you’ve used, and any domain knowledge in retail media, eCommerce, retail, adtech, or SaaS infrastructure. -
Intro Call
A 30-minute conversation to get to know each other. We’ll share more about the role, the team, and the company, and you can ask any first questions. -
Tech Call
A deeper, hands-on discussion with your future teammates. We might exchange on technical concepts and tools, and talk about what matters most to you in your day-to-day work. -
Final Evaluation
A final evaluation to get a feel for our culture, our mission, and the energy we bring to building something meaningful. This could be a live session where you have to show how you approach specific challenges and real use cases we have.
We believe hiring is a two-way street - and we’re just as excited to learn about you as you are to learn about us.
