As a Senior Backend Engineer in our Customer Journey team, you’ll shape the systems that activate, engage and delight thousands of independent hoteliers worldwide. You’ll own meaningful features end-to-end—designing, building, testing, deploying and observing the services that make pricing automation simple and magical. This is a role for engineers who love product impact and solving real problems for real people at a fast-growing, mission-driven startup.

Activities

In this role, you’ll be taking a key role in helping us build the systems that turn first-time users into lifelong RoomPriceGenie champions. Your primary focus will be backend development in Python/Django, where you’ll design and deliver resilient services and APIs that make our activation and growth engine smarter every single day.

You’ll take full ownership of projects—from exploring the problem space and shaping technical solutions, all the way to implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration based on real user outcomes. You’ll write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, applying modern testing practices across unit, integration, and functional layers to ensure we deliver quality at speed.

Collaboration is baked into this role: you’ll partner with Product, Data, Design, and engineers from different domains to ship end-to-end features that improve onboarding, increase engagement, and enhance long-term customer success. While your home base is the backend, you’ll sometimes dip into our React frontend or contribute to data workflows (Snowflake, Airflow, dbt) to keep the momentum high and help the team move quickly.

You’ll also play a crucial role in maintaining the health of our systems. You’ll participate in architecture reviews, bring your perspective to technical discussions, and mentor fellow engineers—raising the bar for engineering excellence across the team.

Beyond feature development, you’ll help evolve how we work: improving our CI/CD pipelines, refining deployment processes, strengthening monitoring and alerting, and adopting tools and practices that enable a fast, reliable, and delightful developer experience. As a product-minded engineer with high ownership, you’ll make thoughtful trade-offs, always keeping user value and measurable impact at the center of your decisions.

This is a role where your ideas matter, your code reaches thousands of users, and your work has a direct, visible impact on the success of small hotels around the world. You’ll operate with autonomy, collaborate with a talented and diverse team, and help shape the future of a fast-growing, mission-driven startup.

Requirements

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a product-minded, ownership-driven approach. You should have deep experience building backend applications at scale, ideally in fast-moving or high-growth environments where ambiguity is normal and collaboration is essential.

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python / Django, and a track record of designing and maintaining robust backend services and APIs.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, testing strategies, and scalable architecture.
  • Experience working in environments that use CI/CD, AWS, modern monitoring and observability tools, and automated testing.
  • A product-minded mindset—you think in terms of user value, understand trade-offs, and care about measurable impact.
  • High ownership mentality: you’re comfortable driving a project from discovery to deployment and iteration.
  • Collaborative and communicative: you work well across functions—Product, Data, Design, and Frontend—helping teams move quickly and effectively.
  • Willingness to occasionally contribute to frontend (React) or data workflows (Snowflake, Airflow, dbt) when needed to unblock progress.
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills.
  • Based in a European time zone (UTC+0 to UTC+2).

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, dragster, cube, or similar data tools.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Celery).
  • Background in a scaling startup or fast-growth product environment.

We’re looking for people who care deeply about building great products, value autonomy, and want to make a meaningful impact on thousands of independent hoteliers around the world.
