PhD candidate (d/w/m) in radiology with a focus on multiparametric MRI

Specialty: Nuclear medicine, Radiology
Work time: part-time (75%)
Start date: 01.01.2027
Employment period: limited until 30.06.2030

About the project

The MR Elastography Working Group is part of the interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1340 at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and conducts research at the intersection of medicine, preclinical research, physics, and computer science.

This subproject focuses on investigating tumor-associated inflammation and biophysical interactions between the tumor and the liver to identify imaging markers for disease progression and response to therapeutic treatment. The markers will also be evaluated to analyze the response to image-guided, locoregional therapies in interventional radiology.

The project involves:

  • Performing quantitative MRI/MRE scans
  • Analyzing biosamples from patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
  • Correlating imaging studies (conducted before and after locoregional therapy) with molecular and histopathological findings from peri-interventional liver and tumor biopsies

In collaboration with clinical and scientific partners within the SFB 1340, the research combines methodological development, experimental ultrasound and MRI systems, and biophysical modeling into a translational research approach.
