Backend Engineer (m/f/x)

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our ambitious and fast-growing team. You will play an integral role in building robust, scalable technology platforms and APIs that deliver exceptional experiences to our customers. We're also looking for someone who has already gone further with AI than using it as a coding assistant — someone who has built LLM-powered features and automations, and who will set the standard for how our team works with AI.

Activities

• Building and extending our Platform Services and Booking Systems
• Designing, developing, and maintaining a robust transactional API platform
• Keeping up with the state-of-the-art of AI assisted development and applying it to everyday tasks
• Participating in code reviews and pair programming
• Improving our existing platform codebase and addressing bugs and performance issues

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in building web applications and distributed web services
• Knowledge of PHP, OOP, relational databases, and data modelling
• Good understanding of SQL with the ability to write and debug queries
• Proven experience shipping AI-powered features or automations — not just using AI as a coding assistant

We keep it simple: two conversations, no take-home assignments, no endless loops. First you'll meet our IT Director for a mutual introduction and a deep dive into your technical background. In the second round you'll meet our Backend Team Lead and our COO — a chance to get to know the team you'd be working with and to talk about where we're heading as a company. We aim to give you a decision quickly after that, and we're happy to answer any question you have along the way.
