We are a scale-up on a mission to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy projects. In order to do that, we build a web platform to support project developers with data, functions and integrations to develop more solar, wind or storage projects, faster. We’re looking for a senior data scientist to co-lead our data team.
You will work closely with the founders to build and continuously improve the data pipelines for our web-based geospatial information system. You will take ownership of our data catalogue, managing more than 2,000 datasets and ensuring our platform always provides the most up-to-date and relevant information.
You will collaborate with a team of talented data scientists and maintain close connections with the German renewable energy market. You will excel if you have a strong understanding of renewable energy projects, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a drive to create meaningful impact within our organization and the broader industry.
Activities
- Understanding data needs by speaking to our commercial team and customers directly, as well as monitoring changes in regulation
- Identifying relevant data sources and deriving specifications for the corresponding ETL pipeline
- Managing and mentoring a team of data scientists and analysts with different experience levels
- Reviewing python scripts to process the data in an ETL pipeline
- Building ETL pipelines yourself for large, complex or scattered data
- Tracking and managing our geospatial data catalogue to ensure our customers make the best of it
- Collaborating closely with our data engineering and infrastructure team to ensure a high degree of quality and automation across ETL pipelines
- Proactively suggesting and discussing the direction our product will take to win the market
Requirements
- Experience in data relevant for identifying and evaluating sites for renewable energy projects
- Experience in processing complex geospatial data with automated ETL pipelines
- Hands-on experience with data processing in python (Geopandas, Shapely, GeoPy, SciPy)
- Experience in GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS) and AWS is a bonus
- Experience in managing teams of up to 5 data scientists and analysts
- Passion for renewable energy project development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German
- Proactive personality with a pragmatic mindset as well as an eye for detail
