The Department of Physics at TU Dortmund University is offering the following position (starting at the earliest possible date):
Professorship (W2) Near-Field Spectroscopy
Our profile
TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences and is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, promotion of early-career scientists, and transfer.

The Department of Physics combines excellent research in the focus areas of particle physics, condensed matter physics, atomic / molecular and optical physics and medical physics with a modern and future-oriented teaching concept. It maintains national and international networks in both research and teaching and is successful in attracting third-party funding.

Profile of the professorship
You represent the topic of near-field spectroscopy implemented by, e.g., atomic force or scanning tunneling microscopy, in combination with ultrafast optical methods, bringing together sub-wavelength spatial and femtosecond temporal resolution at an internationally competitive level. Continually developing these methodologies, your research complements the diverse portfolio of far-field spectroscopy techniques at the department of physics and connects to the research activities on novel materials. You actively participate in research networks and collaborations within and outside of TU Dortmund University, contribute to collaborative third-party funding initiatives, commit yourself to promoting early-career researchers and thereby strengthen the international visibility of the department. Additionally, you participate appropriately in the teaching activities of the department.

Your qualifications
You have obtained a doctorate with above-average success and have acquired a postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent qualification. You have demonstrated your research excellence in the field covered by the professorship through continuous international publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals, especially in recent years, and have been successful in the independent acquisition of competitively awarded third-party funding. Participation in international research networks is expected. Additionally, you have the potential for teaching excellence and are willing to teach in English and German in the medium term. Social and leadership skills and the willingness to participate in academic self-administration complete your profile. Moreover, the recruitment requirements in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG) apply.
