The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is looking to appoint a new Professor of Digital Educational Equity (Grade: W 3) from 1 April 2027. We are looking for a scholar who analyzes educational equity from a theoretical perspective on inequality, encourages participation across diverse educational contexts, and promotes digital spaces as platforms for active engagement. We are looking for candidates whose theoretical and empirical research will contribute to the Institute of Educational Science and Media Research’s emerging profile in Digital Education. Candidates should demonstrate international visibility and a proven track record in independently securing third-party funding (preferably from DFG, BMBF, or ERC). Ideally, your profile should also demonstrate competencies in the area of interdisciplinary cooperation. Your teaching will represent the full breadth of education and educational science in teaching, ideally with a particular emphasis on inequality and the digital transformation of learning and educational processes. In addition, you will cooperate on the curricular development of the B.A. and M.A. degree programs in Educational Science. A commitment to inclusive teaching and social participation as well as an affinity for university development are also desirable. The professorship offers courses in undergraduate B.A. and M.A. degree programs as well as in non-degree programs and is actively involved in the further development of interdisciplinary courses offered by the faculties. Teaching at the FernUniversität integrates modern educational technologies and takes place both online and on-site. Active participation in the development and implementation of innovative teaching and learning formats in accordance with university quality standards is expected. The prerequisite for employment is academic achievement in accordance with Section 36 of the NRW Higher Education Act.
