About Mercedes-Benz At Mercedes-Benz, we are shaping the future of mobility with groundbreaking innovations and a commitment to excellence. Join our team and contribute to developing cutting-edge technologies that define the next generation of automotive experiences.

Become part of a dynamic engineering team focused on embedded systems, hardware development, and communication security within our innovative vehicle architectures, with a special focus on access and go systems (e.g., keyless entry, passive entry/go, vehicle start authorization). We are looking for bright minds eager to gain hands-on experience and contribute to real-world challenges in vehicle access technology.

As a Working Student in Hardware Development for Communication Analysis, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the robustness and security of our vehicle access systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Specialized Hardware: Design, prototype, and test custom hardware solutions specifically engineered to facilitate the analysis of communication interface with ECUs, particularly for access and go systems

    • This involves concept generation, schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, assembly, and functional testing of the developed hardware

  • Enabling RF & LF Communication Analysis: Utilize the developed hardware to implement and execute analysis setups for characterizing Radio Frequency (RF) communication signals relevant to vehicle access and authorization

    • This includes integrating the hardware with tools such as oscilloscopes or logic analyzers , helping to identify and resolve signal integrity and performance issues in these critical systems

  • Facilitating SPI Communication Decryption: Develop hardware-assisted methods and tools to capture and prepare Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) communication originating from ECU used within access and go systems for subsequent decryption.

    • This involves understanding SPI protocols, designing hardware interfaces for data capture, and contributing to the application of cryptographic principles to uncover sensitive information for debugging and security validation purposes

  • Collaborating closely with hardware and software engineers to understand system requirements and integrate your developed hardware solutions into our existing analysis workflows
  • Documenting hardware designs, methodologies, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our analysis and debugging processes

What We Offer:

Gain valuable practical experience in a leading global automotive company. You will work on exciting and challenging projects, receive insights into cutting-edge technologies, and be part of a supportive and innovative team. We offer flexible working hours to accommodate your studies.

The activity can start immediately and is limited to 6 months.
