IMPRS Coordinator (m/f/d)
The Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP) in Bochum is a research institute of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, which conducts interdisciplinary research on the diverse aspects of IT security and data protection. The newly established and expanding institute will ultimately comprise 18 research groups and employ around 200 staff members and guests. The institute cooperates with the Faculty of Computer Science at Ruhr University Bochum. Bochum is one of the world’s leading research locations for cybersecurity and is home to Europe’s largest training center in this field as well as a vibrant start-up scene. Starting in 2026, the International Max Planck Research School (link to https://www.mpg.de/de/imprs) for Privacy-Enhancing Technologies for the Digital Society will be established in a joint effort by MPI-SP and Ruhr University Bochum. Starting immediately, we are seeking an IMPRS Coordinator (m/f/d) Your Responsibilities: Support the development and continuous improvement of the IMPRS program structures. Coordinate the full recruitment and admission process for PhD candidates. Act as a central communication point for students, faculty members, applicants, and partner institutions. Plan and organize program events such as interviews, workshops, symposia, and retreats. Provide administrative and practical support to PhD students. Maintain the program website and digital tools and manage public relations and outreach activities. Prepare documentation, reports, and evaluations, ensuring compliance with program guidelines and regulations. Manage the program budget and oversee smooth day-to-day administrative operations. Your Profile: Graduate degree (master’s level with relevant professional experience or preferably doctoral level). Professional experience in academic program coordination, project management, or higher-education administration is an asset. Experience working in international or multicultural environments is desirable. Excellent spoken and written English; good knowledge of German (or willingness to acquire it). Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; reliable, structured, and self-motivated working style. Confident use of modern digital tools, office software, and online communication platforms. Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently; high level of flexibility and problem-solving skills.
