Full Professorship (W3) in Computational Mathematics and Data Science
Reference No. 2026/055. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the Faculty of Sciences, subject to the approval of the University Council, seeks to fill this position by October 1, 2027.
The University of Konstanz is a dynamic and internationally successful research university with approximately 10,000 students. The campus university's architecture promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and a sense of community among researchers, lecturers and students. We are looking for a person with an outstanding scientific track record and an internationally visible research profile in the field of computational mathematics and data science or related areas, such as data-driven models, data-supported and data-adaptive methods, and their theoretical foundations and algorithmic implementation (e.g., learning, calibration).
The professorship will play a central role for the planned «Mathematical Data Science» degree programme, its development and long-term management. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to teach in the other mathematics degree programmes in the department.
In terms of research, the professorship should offer a wide range of links to the areas of mathematics represented in Konstanz as well as to related subjects such as computer science and physics. The successful candidate is expected to be willing and interested in interdisciplinary cooperation within the university and to actively participate in joint third-party funded projects in the department, including their conceptual design.
