About us

Optimus Search is collaborating with a well-established technology company based in Coburg (Bavaria), recognised for its long-standing contribution to the semiconductor industry. The organisation specialises in the development of micromechanical and optoelectronic components and plays a key role in advancing plasma processes and laser-based analytical methods used for high-precision material characterisation. Their work bridges the gap between research and industrial application, supporting customers in improving the performance and reliability of semiconductor materials and manufacturing processes.

With several sites across Germany, the company fosters a collaborative environment that values technical excellence, innovation, and scientific curiosity. They are now searching for a Field Service Engineer to add to their growing team of specialists!

Tasks

  • Act as the technical advisor for customers, troubleshooting and resolving issues in system and process engineering.

  • Minimise downtime by implementing preventative maintenance plans, managing spare part inventories and driving upgrade projects.

  • Perform audits and inspections of safety-critical equipment and produce compliant documentation.

  • Contribute technical input to service order handling and prepare solution-based quotes.

  • Commission systems at customer sites and ensure they run reliably after handover.

  • Run application training sessions and provide ongoing operational support so customers use systems effectively.

  • Serve as the primary technical contact, liaising with internal teams to coordinate and deliver the best customer solution.

Profile

  • Completed vocational training in mechatronics or certification as a state-qualified technician, or equivalent practical experience in a technical field-service role.

  • Ideally experienced with ultra-trace analysis and safe handling of acids/toxic liquids in small quantities.

  • Beneficial: familiarity with PLCs, control electronics, sensors, automation and robotic handling.

  • Comfortable with digital tools (service apps, ticketing systems, ERP) as part of daily work.

  • Fluent communication skills in German and English.

  • Reliable, creative and flexible with a customer-first mindset and a strong practical, hands-on approach.

  • Comfortable spending around 50% of working time on-site with customers and presenting professionally in an international environment.
