We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our growing data team. As a data scientist at getAbstract, you’ll be responsible for developing imaginative solutions that turn data into valuable insights. To join our team, you’ll need experience with recommender systems and predictive analysis as well as be enthusiastic about machine learning and natural language processing. Experience with commercial AI solutions is a plus. You’ll work on a broad range of projects and collaborate with all key areas of our business. 

Core responsibilities

  • Analyze large amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract meaningful information that will help us understand user behavior, improve our service, and identify new product opportunities
  • Use descriptive analytics to support day-to-day business operations; use advanced statistical techniques for predictive analysis; use these insights for prescriptive analytics
  • Develop and support projects for virtual recommendation, classification and curation Apply machine learning and AI solutions to solve such types of tasks
  • Design and implement data ontologies to fit various use cases, research and productionize machine learning algorithms
  • Own and execute our data strategy together with the data team.

Qualifikation

Key qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in applied data science
  • Working knowledge of statistics
  • Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Python, Scala
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Amazon QuickSight, Tableau)
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies and data management tools
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark
  • Ability to communicate and visualize data in a simple and effective way
  • Experience with Machine Learning and AI
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing
  • Experience with commercial AI solutions is a plus
  • Experience with Knowledge Graph and Semantic Web is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus
